Devil's Paintbrush Road, painting video

" Live and die and gone, live and die and gone,

the devil paints a double life, live and die and gone."

This painting is the fourth in a series of paintings inspired by the songs of Canada's female singer-songwriters. It is inspired by the song of the same name by the Wailin' Jennies. I loved pondering what the Devil's Paintbrush Road might look like. The setting sun is a Devil's Paintbrush flower, and the road is also lined by those flowers. The road itself is textured with glass bead gel to give the impression of a road of hot coals.

I chose this song not only because of the imagery, but because of the idea in the song of being at a crossroads between two lives and having to make the choice of which one you will choose. I think even years later after making those big choices, we still wonder, what if I had gone the other way?

Devil's Paintbrush Road is a 12x12 original painting, mixed media on board. It is seeking a new home. Are you its new owner?
